sConcert is closely integrated with 37signals’ collaborative project management system, Basecamp. Projects, Users and their access privileges in sConcert are the same as set up in Basecamp.
To sign-up for a sConcert account, you will need to be either the Basecamp account owner or user with Admin access. API access must be enabled for the Basecamp account. After the sign-up process is complete, you will become the owner of the sConcert account. Each sConcert account has its own unique web address, which is derived from the Basecamp’s site address provided at the time of sign-up
After automatic account verification with Basecamp, your sConcert web site will be set up and its web address link will be emailed to you. Users defined in your Basecamp account will be able to log into sConcert using this link. For example, if your Basecamp site is acme.grouphub.com, your sConcert web address will be acme.sconcert.com. As sConcert account owner, you can invite users on your Basecamp account to log into sConcert using their Basecamp username* and password. There is no need to create separate accounts for each Basecamp user in sConcert.
At the time of login, projects/user information flows from Basecamp into sConcert using Basecamp’s API. In order for this to work, be sure to enable API access for your Basecamp account before you sign-up on sConcert.
To accomplish this one time setup task, log into your Basecamp account as an administrator and visit the Account tab (located on the upper-right hand side of the screen). On the resulting page that comes up, scroll down to near the bottom and find the section titled Basecamp API. Follow the directions there to enable the API for Basecamp. No other changes are needed to make sConcert work in unison with Basecamp.
